Talk title and abstract:

Title: Collaboratory – a laboratory for Collaboration on public health intelligence analysis

Abstract:

The Collaboratory, an initiative of the WHO Hub with the primary goal to enable collaborative analysis for pandemic and epidemic intelligence by providing a space for public health experts to collaborate in order to address critical challenges that affect the way data is accessed, analyzed, visualised, and communicated for pandemic and epidemic policy and response decision-making.

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted important gaps and challenges in the way the pandemic and epidemic intelligence communities’ access, analyze, and use information to prepare and respond to health emergencies. The global community – comprised of modelers, epidemiologist, researchers, decision makers and public health experts – have lacked a common space to address these challenges collectively, retain knowledge and build on best practice.

Launched in 2024, the Collaboratory is an initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO) Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence. The Collaboratory is currently hosting different communities of practice with more than 500 expert members. The enhancement of trusted connections between experts with ease of interaction remain the main factors for collaboration, while the recognition of collaboration needs to be institutionalized to be sustainable.

We encourage the experts to join the different communities and to contribute to build sustainable collaborations.
